Prince William flexed his Welsh language skills in a new video that flew under the royal radar.

On March 1, the Wales Air Ambulance Charity posted a new video message that the Prince of Wales, 43, recorded to recognize the organization's 25th anniversary.

"Llongyfarchiadau," Prince William said at the start of the clip shared to X, using the Welsh word for "congratulations."

"Congratulations, Wales Air Ambulance, on your 25th anniversary. Since forming on St. David's Day in 2001, the services evolved from just one helicopter operating five days a week to one of the most advanced teams in the U.K.," he continued in the video, which was seemingly filmed in a favorite corner of Windsor Castle.

The Prince of Wales shouted out the charity's capabilities and practiced a little more of the language at the end of his message.

"Within 56,000 missions completed, you have, and continue to make, a lifesaving difference in the communities in which you serve across Wales. Diolch yn fawr," he concluded, using Welsh for "Thank you very much."

William is a former air ambulance helicopter pilot himself and has been Wales Air Ambulance's patron since 2023. The Welsh language practice wasn't his only recent spin, as he also spoke Welsh in a video shared the same day with Kate Middleton.

Princess Kate, 44, spoke Welsh for the first time in a video that the palace shared to Instagram on March 1, in which she and Prince William wished the people of Wales a happy St. David's Day. St. David's Day is Wales' national day, marked annually on March 1, and the couple exclusively spoke Welsh in the clip, which appeared to have been filmed in the same nook as William's Wales Air Ambulance Charity broadcast.

“To everyone in Wales, a very happy St David's Day,” William said at the start. "Wales is very close to our hearts, and we look forward to every visit," Kate continued, in part.

Prince William has been the Prince of Wales since September 2022, when King Charles announced in his first speech as sovereign that his eldest son would take on the title. The Prince of Wales is the historic appellation for the male heir to the throne, and his wife became the Princess of Wales in the same sweep, taking on the styling that William's late mother, Princess Diana, was popularly known by.

The move bolstered William and Kate's connection to Wales, where they lived from 2010 to 2013 for his job as a search and rescue helicopter pilot at RAF Valley in Anglesey. Princess Kate even undertook her first royal duty there when she dedicated a lifeboat at Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station in February 2011 before her royal wedding that April.

During the launch event, the royal bride-to-be impressed locals when she sang along to the Welsh national anthem, “Hen Wlad fy NhaDau (Land of my Fathers)."

"It’s fantastic – well done to her. It shows that she’s thinking about where she is," grade-school teacher Rhian Hughes told PEOPLE at the time. "This is a very Welsh-speaking part of Wales, so it’s a nice gesture."

William and Kate became the Prince and Princess of Wales 11 years later and were eager to get to work in Wales as they took on the titles.

The newly minted Prince and Princess of Wales intended to "spend the months and years ahead deepening their relationship with communities across Wales. They want to do their part to support the aspirations of the Welsh people and to shine a spotlight on both the challenges and opportunities in front of them," their office said.
